ICON is member of The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), organization dedicated to expanding green building practices and education, and its LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™. All ICON events and activities relate to this sustainable leadership goal.

ICON is seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for its facility. The Green Building Rating System is a voluntary, consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED addresses all building types and emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies in five areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality.

The staff of ICON is LEED Accredited (LEED AP), professionals who have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building techniques, the LEED Green Building Rating System, and the certification process. The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) administers the LEED AP program.
